Reelate Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Reelate (“Reelate,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Reelate mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

Reelate is a social movie and TV discovery app. The Services allow users to create profiles, rate and review movies/TV, follow other users, view a social feed, build watchlists and lists, discover content via recommendations, and interact with moderated user-generated content. We may also offer “where to watch” links that connect you to third-party streaming or purchase options.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Services.

Quick Summary (Plain English)

  • We collect information you provide (like your email, username, profile details, and the content you post such as reviews and lists).

  • We collect some information automatically (like device information, app usage, and crash logs) to keep the app running and improve it.

  • Social features mean some information is visible to others (like your profile and reviews), depending on your settings and how the Services work.

  • We share information with service providers (like cloud hosting, authentication, and analytics vendors) and in limited situations (like legal compliance and safety).

  • Outbound “where to watch” links go to third parties. Those third parties may collect information directly from you.

  • You have choices and rights, including accessing, correcting, deleting, or exporting certain information.

1) Who We Are (Controller) and Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information processed by Reelate in connection with the Services.

Company: Reelate LLC
Contact Email: help@reelate.app

2) Information We Collect

We collect information in three main ways: (A) information you provide, (B) information collected automatically, and (C) information from third parties.

A. Information You Provide

Account and profile information

  • Phone Number

  • Username / handle

  • Display name

  • Profile photo and optional profile details you choose to add (e.g., bio, favorites)

User-generated content (“UGC”)

  • Ratings, reviews, comments, lists, watchlists, and other content you post

  • Any text, images, or other media you choose to submit (if applicable)

  • Timestamps associated with your content and actions

Social information

  • Followers/following relationships

  • Interactions such as likes, replies, reposts, or similar features (if available)

  • Blocks, mutes, and other preference settings (if available)

  • Information you include when reporting a problem or abuse

  • Surveys, feedback, or beta-test communications (if you participate)

Subscription or purchase information (if offered)

  • If you purchase a subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play, those platforms process your payment information. We typically receive limited information such as your subscription status, product tier, and purchase/renewal dates.

  • If we offer web-based payments in the future (e.g., via a payment processor), the payment processor generally collects your payment details; we receive transaction confirmations and billing metadata.

B. Information Collected Automatically

Device and app information

  • Device type, operating system, app version, language settings, and time zone

  • Device identifiers (such as advertising ID where permitted, or other device/app identifiers)

  • IP address and approximate location derived from IP (e.g., city/region level)

Usage and diagnostics

  • App activity such as screens viewed, features used, searches performed, clicks/taps, and referral paths within the app

  • Performance data, crash logs, and error reports

  • Log data and security-related events (e.g., to prevent fraud and abuse)

Push notifications

  • Push notification tokens needed to deliver notifications (and related delivery metadata)

Note: We do not access your phone contacts, photos, microphone, or precise GPS location unless the app explicitly asks you and you grant permission. If a future feature requires additional permissions, we will explain what is collected and why at the time you enable it.

C. Information From Third Parties

We may receive information from:

  • Service providers we use to operate the Services (e.g., analytics, crash reporting, cloud hosting).

  • Content and availability providers that supply movie/TV metadata and “where to watch” availability information. This is typically data about titles, not about you.

  • Affiliate/referral partners that may provide reporting about link performance and conversions (often in aggregated form and/or with limited identifiers).

3) How We Use Information

We use information to operate, improve, and secure the Services, including to:

  • Protect our rights and the rights of users

  • Support mergers, acquisitions, or other business transactions (see Section 6)

4) Social Features and What Others Can See

Reelate is a social platform. Depending on your settings and how the Services work:

  • Your username, display name, profile photo, bio, and other profile information may be visible to other users.

  • Content you post—such as reviews, ratings, lists, and watchlists—may be visible to other users.

  • Your social connections and interactions (e.g., followers/following, likes, comments) may be visible to others.

Control tip: Where available, you can manage privacy settings in the app (for example, controlling who can view certain activity). If a control is not available in your version of the app, the feature may be public or shared with others by design.

5) “Where to Watch” Links, Third-Party Links, and Affiliate Tracking

The Services may include outbound links (for example, “where to watch” buttons) that take you to third-party websites or apps.

  • Third parties may collect information directly from you when you visit their sites (including IP address, device/browser info, and cookies if you use a web browser).

  • We may record that you clicked an outbound link and may include an affiliate/referral identifier so we can attribute referrals, measure performance, and prevent fraud.

  • We do not control third-party privacy practices. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.

6) How We Share Information

We share information in the following situations:

A. With Service Providers (Processors)

We use vendors to help us operate the Services. These vendors may process information on our behalf for purposes such as:

  • Cloud hosting, databases, storage, and authentication (e.g., Firebase/Google Cloud services)

  • Push notification delivery

  • Analytics and product instrumentation

  • Crash reporting and performance monitoring

  • Customer support tools

These providers are authorized to use personal information only as needed to provide services to us and must protect it under applicable contractual obligations.

B. With Other Users (Social Sharing)

We share information with other users as part of the Services (see Section 4).

C. With Partners (Affiliate/Sponsored Content)

  • We may share limited information with affiliate/referral partners to measure link performance and prevent fraud (often via referral identifiers and aggregated reporting).

  • If we offer sponsored content or creator partnerships in the future, we may share aggregated performance metrics (e.g., impressions, clicks) and will label sponsored content where required.

D. For Legal, Safety, and Security Purposes

We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:

  • Comply with law, regulation, legal process, or a lawful government request

  • Protect the safety, rights, and property of Reelate, our users, or the public

  • Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues

E. Business Transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice if required by law.

7) Analytics, Advertising, and “Tracking” (Including Apple Requirements)

We use analytics and diagnostic tools to understand usage and improve the Services.

Interest-based advertising and “tracking”:

  • At this time, we do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising unless we clearly disclose it and provide required choices.

  • If we introduce interest-based advertising or ad measurement that qualifies as “tracking” under Apple’s policies, we will request permission where required (e.g., via AppTrackingTransparency on iOS) and update this Privacy Policy and our in-app disclosures accordingly.

8) Data Retention

We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Services and for legitimate business or legal purposes.

Typical retention examples:

  • Account/profile data: retained until you delete your account (or we delete it after extended inactivity, if applicable).

  • User-generated content: retained until you delete it or delete your account, subject to operational needs (e.g., content may remain visible if you shared it publicly and deletion is not technically possible without impacting others, but we will aim to remove or anonymize it where feasible).

  • Backups: information may remain in backups for a limited period after deletion.

  • Logs and security records: retained for a limited period (often weeks to months) to maintain security, prevent fraud, and troubleshoot.

  • Aggregated/de-identified analytics: may be retained longer.

9) How We Protect Information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information, including access controls and security practices designed to reduce risk. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10) International Users and Cross-Border Transfers

We are primarily based in the United States and may process and store information in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.

Where required, we take steps to provide appropriate safeguards for cross-border data transfers.
